The role of endocrinology in maintaining hormonal balance.
Endocrinology is the branch of medicine that studies the endocrine system, a network of glands that produce hormones that regulate various functions in the body. Hormones are chemical messengers that travel through the bloodstream to target cells and tissues, where they initiate reactions. The endocrine system includes several glands such as the pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, pancreas, ovaries, and testes.
