The rural income is carefully derived from the farm production data for the whole year and includes income from share cropping, wage, labor and other non-farm activities – during the slack agriculture seasons. Finally, three alternative income concepts are used in this study to avoid any systematic bias which may be introduced by relying on any single income concept.
