Vortex Induced Vibration New Open Access Journals
Among vortex-induced vibration mechanisms, lock-in in the path transverse to the flow has been known for more years. Many studies have therefore been done. Examples include studies on the hysteresis effect as a function of flow velocity, semi-empirical modeling of vortex-induced resonance, and studies on the influence of different parameters. Although many researchers have reported on the hysteresis effect, the cause of hysteresis is the transition between vortex modes. Brika and Laneville supported this conclusion by directly observing the mode transition and the corresponding hysteresis. Vander Pol type wake oscillator models and extensions of the Morison mode. Based on the time hold between the vibration of the structure and flow reconfiguration.
