Steroid Hormone Metabolism

Steroid hormones are synthesized within the adrenal, placenta, and gonads. the main building block in steroidogenesis is cholestrol, and except placenta all other all steroid-producing tissues have the capacity of synthesizing cholesterol from acetate a 2-carbon precursor. In steroid production, a minimum of 17 enzymes are involved, primarily occurs within the abundant smooth endoplasmic reticulum found in steroidogenic cells. Steroid Hormones are mainly metabolized within the liver and to a lesser extent within the kidney and intestinal mucosa. similarly, administration of few pharmacologic steroid hormones could also be restricted in those with active disease. supported the amount of carbon atoms sex steroids are divided into three groups. Every carbon during this structure is assigned variety identifier, and every ring is assigned a letter. The journal of Steroids & Hormonal Science publishes the papers on steroid metabolism under a special issue entitled "Steroid hormone metabolism" which is being edited by Dr. Carin Wittnich, University of Toronto, Canada. The journal is open access and hence the content are often accessed freely by the readers and therefore the refore the papers which can be published within the journal are subjected to see review process and the findings are assessed by experts for the standard.
