Pheochromocytoma Articles:

A hormone-secreting tumor which will occur within the adrenal glands. Phaeochromocytomas usually develop within the small glands on top of the kidneys (adrenal glands). They most ordinarily affect people between the ages of 20 and 50, but can occur at any age. Because of hormones secreted, symptoms include high blood pressure, sweating, rapid heartbeat and headache. Surgery to remove the tumor is usually required. Pheochromocytoma may be a rare tumor of adrenal tissue. It leads to the discharge of an excessive amount of epinephrine and norepinephrine, hormones that control pulse , metabolism, and vital sign . Pheochromocytoma may occur as one tumor or as quite one growth. It usually develops in the center (medulla) of one or both adrenal glands. The adrenal glands are two triangle-shaped glands. One gland is found on top of every kidney. In rare cases, a pheochromocytoma occurs outside the adrenal . When it does, it's usually elsewhere within the abdomen. Very few pheochromocytomas are cancerous. The tumors may occur at any age, but they're commonest from early to mid-adulthood. In few instances, the condition can also be seen among relations (hereditary).
