Immunoglobulins, otherwise called antibodies, are glycoprotein molecules formed by plasma cells (white blood cells). They act as a significant part of the immune reaction by particularly recognizing and binding to particular antigens, such as bacteria or viruses, and aiding in their demolition. The five principal classes of immunoglobulins are IgG, IgM, IgA, IgD and IgE.
