Germ Cell Journals

A reproductive cell is any biological cell that provides rise to the gametes of an organism that reproduces sexually. In many animals, the germ cells originate within the primitive streak and migrate via the gut of an embryo to the developing gonads. There, they undergo cellular division of two types, mitosis and meiosis, followed by cellular differentiation into mature gametes, either eggs or sperm. Unlike animals, plants don't have germ cells put aside from in early development. Instead, germ cells can come from somatic cells within the adult.

Multicellular eukaryotes are made from two fundamental cell types. Germ cells produce gametes and are the sole cells which will undergo meiosis also as mitosis. These cells are sometimes said to be immortal because they're the link between generations. Somatic cells are all the opposite cells that form the building blocks of the body and that they only divide by mitosis.
