Disordered Eating In Female Athlete Open Access Articles
Eating disorders are serious mental diseases that regularly appear in female athletes. They are abnormal eating behaviours which will be diagnosed only by strict criteria. Disordered eating, although also characterized as abnormal eating behaviour, doesn't include all the standards for diagnosing eating disorders and is therefore how to acknowledge the matter in its early stages. Female athletes are under intense pressure to have a low percentage of body fat, not only to enhance performance but also for the sake of appearance. Therefore, to identify vulnerable groups and the best way to track them, it became extremely necessary to describe and confront recent data on the presence of disordered eating and its complications, covering energy availability and feminine Athlete Triad spectrum, in young female athletes and control subjects.
