Dementia

Dementia is a general term for diseases and situations considered by a failure in memory, language, problem-solving and other thinking skills that affect an individual's capacity to achieve everyday activities. Amnesia is an example. Alzheimer's is that the commonest explanation for dementia. Dementia isn't one disease; it’s an overall term like heart condition that covers a good range of specific medical conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease. Disorders grouped under the overall term “dementia” are caused by abnormal brain changes. These changes trigger a decline in thinking skills, also referred to as cognitive abilities, severe enough to impair lifestyle and independent function. They also affect behaviour, feelings and relationships.
