A hierarchical control system provides a bridge between sub-symbolic AI at its lowest levels and traditional symbolic AI at its highest levels. Relaxed time restrict planning and world modeling. Modern extensions of Soar include both symbolic and sub-symbolic components. Researchers have a common language to communicate with other fields such as decision theory and economics which also use concepts of abstract agents. Building a complete agent requires research scientists to address realistic problems of integration. In a multi-agent system researchers designed systems to build intelligent systems. Little cognitive architecture are custom-built to solve problem; others, such as Soar, are designed to mimic human cognition and to supply insight into general intelligence.
