Abstract:

Effective behavioral guidance is the foundation of successful pediatric dental care. In this lecture, Anna Kowalska from Warsaw presents an updated framework for behavioral management strategies that align with modern parenting styles and diverse patient needs. Topics include non pharmacologic techniques such as tell-show-do, distraction, modelling, and voice control, along with indications for pharmacologic methods. Kowalska integrates findings from pediatric psychology to help clinicians adapt their approaches to children with ADHD, ASD, and dental phobia. Using video case demonstrations, she illustrates how to de-escalate anxiety and build lasting patient rapport. This session is ideal for dentists aiming to reduce treatment time, increase cooperation, and foster long-term trust.
