Abstract
Introduction Recent years have witnessed significant advancements in our understanding and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, cognitive disorders, and stroke rehabilitation. These complex conditions necessitate a multidisciplinary approach, with a growing emphasis on neurovascular care as a foundational element [1]. The intricate relationship between vascular health and cognitive decline, particularly in the context of aging and stroke, is increasingly recognized. Interventions targeting neurovascular integrity are proving crucial in managing cognitive disorders and preventing recurrent strokes [2]. Innovations in stroke rehabilitation are also transforming patient outcomes. Technology-assisted therapies and personalized exercise regimens are being explored to optimize motor recovery and enhance the quality of life for stroke survivors [3]. Furthermore, research is delving into the pathophysiology of key neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, and their undeniable association with vascular risk factors. The concept of a 'vascular-neurodegenerative continuum' is gaining traction [4]. In the realm of cognitive disorders, the critical role of neurovascular care in managing conditions, especially post-stroke cognitive impairment, is being underscored. Diagnostic tools and therapeutic interventions are evolving to protect brain health [5]. Challenges and opportunities in rehabilitating patients with neurodegenerative diseases affecting motor control and cognition are being addressed. Integrated care models are essential to manage the progressive nature of these conditions [6]. The neurobiological underpinnings of cognitive disorders and their interaction with cerebrovascular health are a subject of ongoing investigation. Factors like hypertension and diabetes significantly contribute to vascular damage, impacting cognitive function [7]. The evolving landscape of stroke rehabilitation emphasizes early mobilization, evidence-based therapies, and patient-centered goal setting. Addressing the multifaceted needs of survivors is paramount [8]. A complex interplay between neurodegeneration and neurovascular disease is becoming clearer. Impaired neurovascular function can accelerate neurodegeneration and exacerbate cognitive decline, suggesting new therapeutic avenues [9]. Understanding cognitive disorders, which affect memory, thinking, and executive functions, requires a comprehensive approach. Early identification and management, incorporating neurovascular assessment, are vital for effective intervention [10]. Conclusion This collection of research synthesizes recent advancements in neurodegenerative diseases, cognitive disorders, and stroke rehabilitation, with a strong emphasis on the critical role of neurovascular health. It explores the intricate links between vascular integrity and cognitive function, highlighting how managing vascular risk factors is key to preventing cognitive decline and stroke recurrence. Innovations in stroke rehabilitation, including technology-assisted therapies and personalized approaches, are discussed as methods to optimize recovery and improve quality of life. The underlying pathophysiology of neurodegenerative conditions and their overlap with vascular pathologies are examined, suggesting a continuum of disease progression. Comprehensive neurovascular assessment and integrated care models are identified as essential for effective diagnosis and management of these complex neurological conditions, aiming for improved patient outcomes and enhanced brain health.
