Exploring the role of epigenetic modifications in gene expression regulation.
Epigenetic modifications play a crucial role in the regulation of gene expression, providing an additional layer of control beyond the underlying DNA sequence. These modifications, including DNA methylation, histone modifications, and non-coding RNA molecules, contribute to the establishment and maintenance of cell- and tissue-specific gene expression patterns. Understanding the dynamic interplay between epigenetic modifications and gene regulation is of great significance in various biological processes, including development, differentiation, and disease pathogenesis.Author(s): Carlo Boskovic*
