Endocrine disrupting chemicals in synthetic and non-synthetic materials.
The presence and spatial distribution of alkylphenols (4-tert-octylphenol, 4-n-octylphenol, nonylphenol) and bisphenol A were studied in five estuaries along Spain's Northwest coast. As far as we know, there are no earlier works on this issue in the literature. A total of 98 seawater samples were collected between May 2011 and July 2012 and analyzed using a newly designed extremely sensitive DLLME-LC-MS/MS technology. Nonylphenol was found to be the most prevalent component, with a maximum concentration of 0.337 g L1 (Ra de Vigo).
