Editorial note on Metabolic syndrome..

The metabolic syndrome is a grouping of metabolic risk factors for heart disease and insulin resistance. Recently, a simple, fast, non-invasive, and realistic screening method was created to identify people who are at high risk of developing type-2 diabetes in the future. The Finnish Type-2 Diabetes Risk Score (FINDRISC) is one of these methods that has been commonly used and validated for detecting unknown diabetes and MS in a variety of populations, mainly Caucasian.
