Determinants of parasite infection in European hedgehogs (Erinaceus europaeus) and test-day milk production traits.
The European hedgehog populace is declining in Europe. It is hence vital to explore the causes for the decrease and screen the common wellbeing of the species. We explored the endoparasite event in 299 dead European hedgehogs. Of these, endoparasites were identified in 69% of the people tried. We recognized Crenosoma striatum, Capillaria aerophila and Capillaria hepatica. We moreover inspected the hedgehogs for Giardia spp. and Echinococcus multilocularis but all were negative. (n = 14, 5.2%) were as it were recognized in people from Zealand, Lolland and Jutland south of the Limfjord. Single cases of Brachylaemus spp. (n = 1, 0.4%) and Capillaria hepatica (n = 1, 1.1%) were solely found in Jutland south and north of the Limfjord, separately.Author(s): Katharina Strube
