Trigeminal Neuralgia Scholarly Peer-review Journal
Trigeminal neuralgia is inflammation of the trigeminal , causing intense facial pain. It’s also referred to as tic douloureax because the extreme pain can cause patients to contort their face into a grimace and cause the top to maneuver far away from the pain. Tic douloureux is related to a spread of conditions. Tic douloureux is often caused by a vessel pressing on the trigeminal because it exits the brain stem. This compression causes the erosion or damage to the protective coating round the nerve (the myelin sheath). Pain varies, counting on the sort of tic douloureux , and should range from sudden, severe, and stabbing to a more constant, aching, burning sensation. The pain may affect a little area of the face or may spread. Bouts of pain rarely occur in the dark, when the affected individual is sleeping.
