Rota Viral Disease
The virus is transmitted via the oral-faecal route. It infects and damages the cells of this line of the small intestine that causes gastroenteritis (which is often referred to as "stomach flu" despite having no influenza relation). Although Rotavirus was discovered in 1973 through electron micrograph images by Ruth Bishop and her colleagues and accounts for about one third of hospitalizations for severe diarrhoea in infants and children, its importance has historically been undervalued within the public health community, especially in developing countries. Despite its effect on human health, rotavirus frequently infects the other species, and it is a livestock pathogen. Rotaviral enteritis is generally a childhood disease that is easily managed, but in 2013 rotaviruses caused 37 percent of children's deaths from diarrhoea and 215,000 deaths worldwide.
