Harmful algal blooms (HABs), brought on usually by using nutrient enter from agricultural runoff, are a hazard to freshwater systems international, and are similarly expected to boom in size, frequency, and intensity due to weather exchange. HAB’s occur annually in the Western Basin of Lake Erie (Ohio, USA), and these blooms turn out to be toxic when dominated via cyanobacteria that produce the liver toxin microcystin. Although we are making widespread in roads in the direction of expertise how microcystin affects human fitness, less is understood approximately effects of microcystin on flora and fauna exposed to HAB’s.
