Challenges of South East Asian Hair Transplants

 Abstract:

Introduction:

The hair quality and characteristic differences of various ethnicity has been widely studied and published. While most studies look into the broad indigenous groups such as Caucasians, Hispanics, Chinese, Koreans, etc., the South East Asian community presents a unique group of patients where fusion of races commonly occur. This in turn has changed the basic understanding of FUE prognostication in this group.

Conclusion:

South East Asian patients have a variance in the follicle characteristics and therefore alters the prognostication of a FUE procedure. The usage of micro tools may not be as efficient for the result yield of this group.
