SYNTHESIS CHARACTERIZATION OF 1-SUBSTITUTED BIPHENYL DERIVATIVES AS AN-

TI-OXIDANT AGENTS

series of [1, 1’-biphenyl]-4-yl)-3-substitued 2-en-1-one derivatives (4a-h) were synthesized by general

acylation methods and [1, 1’-biphenyl]-4-yl)2-oxyethyl substituted derivatives were synthesized by Frie-

dal-crafts acylation and then followed by cyclization of respective derivatives afforded targeted compounds

(5a-d). The newly synthesized derivative compounds were characterized by IR, H1NMR, 13C NMR, mass analy-

ses and screened for their

in vitro

antioxidant activity (Scavenging of hydrogen peroxide, scavenging of super-

oxide radical methods).
