It is with great pleasure that we introduce the inaugural issue of the Journal of Clinical Dentistry and Oral Health to the dental community of practicing dentists, academicians and researchers worldwide. This new journal is a multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed, scientific publication that publishes leadingedge scholarly manuscripts based on contemporary research findings related to oral health as well as the diagnosis and treatment of oral diseases.

The primary objectives of the journal are to advance the state of the art of dentistry, to encourage scientific research and to improve and enhance the general standard of dentistry regionally and internationally. The journal prioritizes the publication of manuscripts that may contribute to the accentuation of dental research on the conceptual and applicatory aspects of tooth pathology, endodontics, geriodontics, oral microbiology, oral biology, cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, implant dentistry, forensic dentistry, primary care dentistry, maxillofacial pathology and veterinary dentistry.

A journal is an appropriate and effective mode for the dissemination and exchange of scientific ideas and innovations. In this essence, we hope to provide the dental community with an educational tool which monitors and reports the latest developments. In today's technology-conscious world, the clinical dental specialties are progressing rapidly to meet the society's urgent need for a dental practice that offers an astute and circumspect service as well as a safe and predictable dental treatment. To achieve these goals, there is a compelling need for more high-quality research, the responsibility of which lies with the professionals in various disciplines that belong to this community.

Critical appraisal of published articles has the same importance of the publication process itself. Clinical guidelines are usually formulated after reviewing the published literature on a certain subject. This is not always a straight forward process and contradictory results and opinions may be encountered. For example, Amalgam has been shown to have good mechanical properties that make it the material of choice in populations with high caries risk and poor prevention measurements. Nevertheless, the disposal of amalgam fillings raises serious environmental issues that limit its usage by clinicians in some countries. In this regards, systemic reviews and meta-analyses are warranted to provide the clinicians with sound clinical recommendations regarding the efficiency and safety of the various materials and techniques used in the dental field [1-3].

Our journal accepts original manuscripts in the form of research articles, review articles, short communications, case reports, opinion articles and commentaries. In this regards, we invite all researchers, specialists and clinicians around the world to submit their manuscripts to this journal and share their valuable constructive criticisms in relation to this premier issue to make the further issues even better.

We admit that this journal would not have come into existence, without the dedicated efforts of the Editorial Board, Publisher and a host of qualified reviewers and advisers. With appreciation, we want to thank them all for making this dream come true.

We hope our readers will find this journal to be a valuable and additional source of scientific information and inspiration. We are confident that with your valuable contributions, this journal will find its proper niche among the scientific dental journals published throughout the world today.
